detox baths are a wonderful and a nice idea to do at least once a month. This detox bath is a little different because it uses ground dried spices instead of essential oils or floral herbs. I will explain why a little later.
The basic detox bath bass recipe is One cup Epson salt and half a cup baking soda. Epson salt is one of the best baths you can give yourself for pulling heavy metals and toxins out of your body. Definitely worth researching!
baking soda almost asked like a Mr. clean for your skin with exfoliation, pulling out of excess boils that can make acne prone. Another great area of research to check out! However, baking soda can really dry out the skin.
when looking at many DIY detox baths, suggesting to moisturize post an Epson/baking soda bath is not always talked about but so important.
this simple recipe focuses on using spices in stead of essential oils. There will be many essential oil baths to come and fresh raw herbal baths to come!
spice detox bath
1 cup Epson salt
1/2 c baking soda
1/2 tbs ground cinnamon
1/2 tbs ground ginger
1 tbs honey
1 bath melt or 1 tbs spoon coconut oil
bath tub strainer
since the baking soda can dry out the skin, the honey ask as a healing barrier to prevent any agitation the baking soda may give you.
begin by mixing your Epson salt, baking soda and spices in a bowl.
place your honey in a separate bowl.
begin your bath. Have the water as hot as possible. Please see your bowl of ingredients directly underneath your water stream. This will disperse it naturally into the tub while beginning to melt the Epson salt.
repeat this process with your honey.
use your hand to break up any spice or salt.
The bath is a beautiful dark amber color due to the spices. Place your bath melt or tablespoon of coconut oil on the side of your tub. Soak for 15 minutes and then add your moisturizer to your tub.
spice warning: The cinnamon can become slightly slimy. You will see the spices rest on your body during your bath. The cinnamon absorbs the water, giving it an interesting texture. Many people do not like this. However, for my sensitive skin and the cinnamon ad's protection against the baking soda at drying of my skin out too much. To see if you don't like the cinnamon, simply add a little to a glass of water before doing this bath so you can feel the texture.
if you do not moisturize in the tub, be sure to put on a body butter or lotion after the bath.
if you try it out, I would love to hear your thoughts and if you have a favorite detox bath please share to the Facebook page!
